What a great read! And exciting to get an inside view into the process of making an album :) Can't wait to read more about Thao's journey here on Substack.

Thanks for this-title caught my attention immediately-it is verbatim including the ? -my first Substack post that I deleted. Truth. So my obligatory preface: being new to this platform: it's difficult *not* to notice that the musicians here, including myself, seem to be blogging from a near-palpable "defensive" posture. (insert another preface here). Granted: I have not yet publicized any of my pithy drafts and un-edited content, which is only (for now) being used as a diary/journal of sorts. End of that preface. The reason I made a decision to (at least try) to contribute to Substack, was simple: I was PREFACING way too many social media statuses - i.e. "I'm not an anti-vaxxer and yes I believe in science....BUT".

What I had understood from the first time I heard the word "Substack"-was a sense of writing without those filters-and (bonus!) one *could* create audio-whether original songs, parodies, mashups-composed or conceived from the written opinion itself. The title also raised a red flag-, it reminded me of my best writing, a lifetime ago. "Institutional Biases Against Musicians-(Within The Greater Fine Arts Community)". Let's just hope that doesn't happen here. As a famous T-shirt I'm wearing once read :Beware of Musicians :They mix with all classes of society and are therefore the most dangerous.
